1. Introduction

Taqwa Institute is a voluntary supplementary school providing Islamic education to children aged 4–16. It operates outside the statutory attendance framework applicable to maintained schools. However, Taqwa recognises that regular attendance is essential for educational continuity, safeguarding and the responsible use of charitable places.

Islam places great emphasis on responsibility (amānah), commitment to obligations and consistency in learning. Regular attendance reflects these values.

2. Safeguarding & Attendance

Persistent absence or irregular attendance may indicate unmet needs, emotional or behavioural difficulties, family pressures, or safeguarding concerns. Attendance monitoring forms part of Taqwa's safeguarding framework. Concerns are escalated to the DSL where appropriate.

3. Expectations

  • Pupils are expected to attend all sessions punctually
  • Parents/carers must inform Taqwa on the day of any absence: office@taqwainstitute.org | 0161 633 3626
  • Unexplained absences are recorded as unauthorised
  • Persistent absence without valid reason may result in withdrawal of a pupil's place

ʿĀlimiyyah (Advanced Islamic Studies) pupils are expected to maintain a minimum 90% attendance level. Attendance below this threshold may impact eligibility for progression or graduation.
