1. Overview

Taqwa Institute is a registered charity (No: 1131176) and voluntary Islamic supplementary school serving children aged 4–16 in Oldham and Greater Manchester. This policy governs admissions for the academic year 2026–2027.

Taqwa Institute is fully committed to equal opportunities. No applicant is discriminated against on the basis of race, nationality, colour or ethnic origin.

2. Admission Criteria (in priority order)

  1. Children of current staff members and Trustees of Taqwa Institute
  2. Siblings of currently enrolled pupils (sibling defined as brother/sister, half-sibling, adopted or step-sibling living at the same address)
  3. Applicants ranked by performance in entrance assessment (where applicable)
  4. Age preference for Early Years: child must be aged 4 years 6 months to 5 years 6 months
  5. Children with exceptional social, welfare or spiritual needs relevant to Taqwa's provision
  6. Remaining places allocated by proximity to Crossbank Street, Oldham (straight-line measure)

3. Waiting List

Applicants not offered a place are placed on the waiting list in admission criteria order. Waiting list positions are live and may be affected by new applications with higher priority.

4. Late Applications

Applications received after 30 April 2026 will be considered after on-time applications unless there is good reason and the list has not been finalised.

5. Fraudulent Applications

If false information is provided, any offer of a place may be withdrawn. Siblings will not receive sibling priority if a place was obtained fraudulently.

6. Twins & Multiple Births

Where admission criteria would result in a place being offered to one twin/multiple but not all, all children in the group are moved up the priority order. Where this is still not possible, random allocation is used.

7. Review

This policy is reviewed annually by the Trustees of Taqwa Institute.
